Terms of Service for the ToAll Application

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using ToAll (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

The Service is provided by Brigham Young University, located in Utah, United States (“BYU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

2. Description of the Service

ToAll is a desktop application that enables users to:

  • Ingest livestreams (including via HLS links),
  • Upload static video, audio, and text files,
  • Translate, transcribe, and dub content,
  • Output translated content to third-party platforms or for download,
  • Use Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) APIs for speech-to-text, translation, text-to-speech, and large language models.

ToAll does not provide its own AI model credentials and relies on user-supplied API keys.

3. Eligibility

The Service is available to users of any age.
If you are a minor, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

4. No User Accounts

ToAll does not require users to create accounts.
However, certain features (such as broadcasting to YouTube or other platforms) require users to have accounts with third-party services. ToAll is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for those services.

5. User Content and Responsibilities

5.1 User Content

You may upload, stream, or process video, audio, and text content (“User Content”) using the Service.

You retain ownership of your User Content.

5.2 License to Operate the Service

By using the Service, you grant BYU a limited, non-exclusive, temporary license to process your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service’s functionality.

BYU does not claim ownership over User Content.

6. Copyright and Intellectual Property

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have all necessary rights, permissions, and licenses to use, process, translate, and distribute any User Content you submit, and
  • Your use of the Service does not violate copyright law or any third-party rights.

BYU is not responsible for determining whether User Content is authorized for use, translation, rebroadcast, or distribution.

Users are solely responsible for compliance with copyright laws and platform terms (e.g., YouTube, streaming providers).

7. Third-Party Services and APIs

The Service integrates with third-party platforms and APIs, including but not limited to:

  • Video streaming platforms,
  • AI service providers (STT, TTS, translation, LLMs).

BYU does not control and is not responsible for:

  • Third-party service availability,
  • API failures or outages,
  • Costs incurred from user-provided API keys,
  • Enforcement actions taken by third-party platforms.

Use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms.

7.1 AI Provider Transparency

The Service supports integrations with third-party AI providers selected by the user, including Microsoft Azure, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, and Anthropic.

These providers may be used for speech recognition, translation, text-to-speech, and large language model functionality depending on the user’s configuration.

Use of these third-party providers is subject to their respective terms, privacy policies, pricing, and availability.

8. Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK)

You are solely responsible for:

  • Securing your API keys,
  • Any costs or usage incurred through those keys,
  • Compliance with the terms of the API providers you use.

BYU does not store, manage, or monitor API usage beyond what is technically required to provide the Service.

9. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations,
  • Infringe intellectual property rights,
  • Circumvent content protection systems,
  • Distribute malicious software,
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service.

BYU reserves the right to restrict or discontinue access to the Service for misuse.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”

BYU makes no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability,
  • Fitness for a particular purpose,
  • Accuracy of translations,
  • Uptime or availability.

Translations and AI-generated outputs may contain errors and should not be relied upon as authoritative.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • BYU shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages,
  • BYU shall not be liable for data loss, content removal, platform enforcement actions, or third-party service failures.

Use of the Service is at your own risk.

12. Termination

BYU may suspend or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice.

You may stop using the Service at any time.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

14. Changes to These Terms

BYU may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
