1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how ToAll (“the Service”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the ToAll desktop application.

The Service is provided by Brigham Young University (“BYU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located in Utah, United States.

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

ToAll processes content you choose to provide, including:

  • Video files
  • Audio files
  • Text files
  • Livestream URLs (such as HLS links)
  • Optional scripts for matching or alignment
  • API keys for third-party services (BYOK)

This information is processed only to provide the Service’s functionality.

2.2 Information We Do Not Collect

ToAll does not:

  • Require user accounts
  • Collect names, addresses, or phone numbers
  • Collect payment information
  • Track users across websites
  • Use advertising or analytics trackers
  • Sell personal data

3. How We Use Information

We use information solely to:

  • Process translations, transcriptions, and dubbing
  • Match scripts to media when applicable
  • Output translated content to user-specified destinations
  • Enable downloads or third-party streaming

We do not use your information for marketing or profiling.

4. Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) APIs

ToAll allows users to provide their own API keys for:

  • Speech-to-text
  • Translation
  • Text-to-speech
  • Large language models

You are responsible for:

  • Managing and securing your API keys
  • Any data transmitted to third-party API providers
  • Compliance with the providers’ privacy policies and terms

BYU does not control how third-party services handle data once it is sent to them.

4.1 AI Provider Transparency

ToAll supports user-selected third-party AI providers through a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) model. Current supported providers include:

  • Microsoft Azure for automatic speech recognition (ASR), translation, and some text-to-speech functionality
  • ElevenLabs for some text-to-speech functionality
  • OpenAI for optional large language model (LLM) features
  • Anthropic for optional large language model (LLM) features

Depending on the features the user chooses to enable, user-provided content such as audio, video, text, scripts, livestream URLs, or related metadata may be transmitted to one or more selected third-party providers for processing.

BYU does not control how these third-party providers handle data once it is transmitted to them. Users are responsible for reviewing and complying with the applicable privacy policies and terms of the providers they choose to use.

5. Data Storage and Retention

  • ToAll primarily processes data locally on your device.
  • Temporary files may be created during processing.
  • BYU does not intentionally retain User Content beyond what is required for processing.
  • Users are responsible for managing and deleting output files.

BYU does not guarantee long-term storage of any data.

6. Third-Party Platforms

The Service may output content to third-party platforms (such as video hosting or streaming services).

BYU is not responsible for:

  • Data handling practices of third-party platforms
  • Content moderation or enforcement actions
  • Privacy policies of external services

Use of third-party platforms is governed by their respective policies.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

ToAll is a desktop application and does not use cookies, web beacons, or tracking technologies for advertising or analytics.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is available to users of any age.

ToAll does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe personal information has been inadvertently collected, please contact us and we will address the issue.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by the Service. However:

  • No system is completely secure
  • You use the Service at your own risk
  • BYU cannot guarantee absolute security of data

10. Your Rights and Choices

Because ToAll does not maintain user accounts or centralized data profiles:

  • Most data control is exercised directly by you on your device
  • You may stop using the Service at any time
  • You may delete local files at your discretion

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated “Last Updated” date.

Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
